Matti Turunen is an artistic multi-tasker who combines the roles of opera singer, church musician and pedagogue in a unique way. His career has taken him from small rural villages to international opera houses such as the Teatro Alla Scala in Milan and the Savonlinna Opera Festival. Mati’s work is characterised by musical passion and high artistic standards, which are reflected in her performances as well as in her teaching and choral conducting. His wide experience of different musical styles makes him an exceptionally versatile artist.

In addition to his artistic career, Matti is also dedicated to church music, choir conducting and teaching. He has been the director of the Lähde Choir and Noljakka Gospel, and has worked as a chaplain in several churches. He has also taught at the Sibelius Academy at the University of the Arts, where under his guidance many musicians have honed their skills and found their own voice. His work is based on musical and artistic excellence and a warm and collaborative approach.
